The Easter Bunny had to hide the eggs inside this year since there is still so much snow on the ground...the dolls (and Zoey and I) still had a lot of fun though!

Doll Play - Easter Brunch

Our dolls enjoyed a beautiful Easter brunch this morning...

They all look so lovely and are so excited to hopefully find some eggs at the Easter Egg Hunt a bit later.  They found out that the Easter bunny had to hide the eggs inside this year due to all of the snow that's still on the ground outside but that's alright with them because that means they won't have to worry about getting their pretty dresses all messy!

Doll Play - Our Easter Dresses

Zoey and I wanted to share with you what our dolls are wearing for Easter this year!  Bella is looking lovely in a retired Bitty Baby purple cotton dress and hat and Zoe is looking cute in another retired Bitty dress.  They look like they are ready for Spring don't you think?

Julie you already got to see in a previous post but we wanted to be sure to include her in this post as well...we love the skirt that we got from KC and we paired with it the shirt that is from American Girl that goes with the Pretty in Plaid outfit.  Emily is wearing a fancy little dress also from Bitty Baby that has been retired.

Kristen is wearing an outfit that is by Dollie & Me and Rebecca is wearing the new Freshed Picked Sundress for the Bitty Twins.  We just LOVE this dress and sandals set!

And last but not least is McKenna and Bitty Baby Lucy.  McKenna is wearing a lovely Easter dress that we received from her Grandma and it's handmade (not sure where she got it) and Lucy is wearing the Pretty in Plaid dress paired with some leggings.

In the Kitchen - Making Bunny Bait

If you are on Pinterest you know that there are so many fun treats out there to make for any holiday and Easter is no exception!  I happened upon a fun looking (and easy) treat called Bunny Bait and knew that it was something that Zoey and I would be doing for our special Easter treat.  To view the complete recipe that we followed click here.  The only change we made was instead of using 6 oz.'s of white chocolate we used 8 oz.'s.

It turned out so yummy and I am a bit worried that we won't have enough left over for Easter to "bait" the bunny.  :)

Julie's Easter Attire...

It's almost here!  The Easter Bunny that is!  Julie wanted to share with you her sweet new skirt that she got from KC at The Real Thing with the Coake Family.  You can get the FREE pattern for this skirt here if you like.

Julie is also wearing a sparkly bunny headband that Zoey made while having some fun at Gracie and Lily's house this past weekend.  Julie loves it!

One side of the skirt is the fun wavy stripes...

and the other is a pattern of flowers and Easter eggs...both are sweet but our favorite is the wavy pastel lines.

How to Make an Easter Basket for your Doll

We began with a small styrofoam cup.

 

Using a cutting tool, I removed a rectangle from the front and back of the cup, leaving two 1/2" strips on each side of the cup. I had to experiment with the size of the basket-and retry a few times until I got it right.  It is important that the strips  left on each side are the same width and are across from each other, so the handle lines up.

 Use hot glue to carefully glue the top of the handles together.  This gives a perfect little basket shape!

My girls had fun painting the baskets!  We used acrylic craft paint to paint the inside and out of the basket.  Use hot-glue to attach a little bow to the handle, fill with grass and you are done!

Doll Play - Getting the Easter Baskets Ready!

McKenna and Rebecca had fun getting the Easter baskets ready for all of their friends this year...I found the baskets at our dollar store in a pack of 8 baskets for $1.00.  I had left over Easter grass from last year so figuring out the dolls Easter baskets this year was a breeze!

We are wondering what the Easter bunny will leave the dolls this year...last year they got some fun food playsets from American Girl.  They are so excited to see what this year brings but they are a bit concerned that the bunny will be able to find them this year since we still have so much snow!

I'm going to guess that the Easter bunny will manage just fine...

Doll Craft - Spring Potted Plants

With the first day of Spring and Easter just around the corner it's time for some bright and cheery crafts for our dolls...despite the fact that in real life here we have snow, snow and more snow and there is really no real sign of Spring yet to be seen we are at least having fun pretending Spring is really here with our dolls.

To make some potted plants for your dolls you will need the following: mini pots, plastic or silk flowers, fake flower arranging foam for your pots and some stickers.  I found all of these items at my local dollar store bringing the total of this craft to around $4.00 for three potted plants with some supplies left over for our next crafting adventure.

You will first need to cut your foam for the inside of the pots to size and then push each little rectangle piece as deep down into the pot as you can.

Cut or pick off some of the stems of your flowers and gently push them into your potted planting foam as pictured below.

Add as many flower stems as you wish until you are happy with how your potted plant looks.

Rebecca was so excited to finally have fun playing in the "dirt" and got out her trusty watering can so that she can now care for her potted plants.

We decorated our pots with some Spring and Eater themed stickers just for fun.  They really bring some cheer to our doll play area now and we are truly getting excited for Spring to really make it's appearance for real here as well!

Easter Doll Portraits

We had an impromptu play date with Zoey yesterday, which began with a trip to the town hall for the girls  to have a pancake breakfast with the Easter Bunny, play Easter games and hunt for eggs, followed by a quick stop at a local store that was having free Easter Portraits with LIVE bunnies!  When we got back to our house, the girls played and I dug through my craft box to throw together some AG fun for the girls. After making Easter Baskets, Easter eggs, little pet bunnies, bunny hair bands and the Easter ribbon to hang behind the dolls for our 'Dolls Easter Portraits'  they posed the dolls in front of the Easter backdrop. I will share the doll portraits in this post, and some directions and more pictures of the other crafts later this week.

Zoey didn't bring her own doll today, as it wasn't a planned doll-play date, so she borrowed Samantha to play with.  She posed her on the Our Generation Doll Bike for her picture!  Samantha looks so cute and casual with the Easter Bunny in her basket and the garland hung behind her for the photo.  

I found textured craft foam at the dollar depot last week. This looks just like grass in our spring picture! 

Gracie's doll Kit, and Lily's doll Caroline were all dolled up for Easter with their new pet bunny's in their home-made Easter baskets!

Happy Easter from the girls!!!!  Sometimes I like to take pictures from different points of views- I was having trouble getting both dolls eyes to look at the camera today!

Gracie and Zoey thought that the stuffed bunny that Gracie won by guessing the jelly-beans in the jar at breakfast would make a good Easter Bunny to photograph the dolls with!
