Product Review - Dollie and Me

Thursday, March 7, 2013

I ordered the above pictured outfits for each of my girls.  They were $24 each on Zulily, (also available at Kohls). Each outfit came with a girl and matching doll size outfit. I ordered them on February 15th and they arrived  17 days later.  I was really excited to get them-and started getting impatient- even though my girls can't wear them until spring break in a few weeks.  I was able to track the shipment on Zulily which I really appreciated.  I have to say, that I was a little worried about the fit.  I ordered Lily the size 7 and YAY, they had size 12 for Gracie...Kohls rarely has any of this brand in size 12. They are perfect, as you can see in the picture above.  These are a true to size set-running slightly on the smaller end of the size. If you are on the edge about which size to order-order up.

The attention to detail on this set is fantastic!  The flower is a dimensional piece with a  ric-rac stem.  The little shrug is connected and trimmed in pink.  The fabric is so soft!  The skirt swishes and has sparkles!  I absolutely LOVE this set!  Lily and her new doll Caroline (JLY doll) look darling together.

This set is really cute too- although on this one the butterfly is a large, thick sticker.  I think it would have been cutter if it was made from fabric.  Also, Lily noticed that the doll dress didn't have the pink layer of ruffle on the bottom of the dress. It would have been a cute addition to the doll set.  Also, the girl set has a butterfly on her pants and the dolls are plain.  I like that the doll ones are plain and can be worn with other outfits, and really think the girl set could have been plain too.

I had not noticed these differences when I ordered the sets, and even if I had- I think they are really cute and would have gotten them anyway.

Here you can see the cute layers and sparkles on the girl skirt.  The doll skirt is the same.  The doll set is one piece.  It opens completely down the back and closes with Velcro   It is very easy to dress the doll in and fits the American Girls very well.

Here are a few close up shots of the applique on the front of the sets.

Here you can see Alice is dressed in a "What a Doll" set from K-Mart.  It also came with a matching girl set.  I found it online for around $14 for the entire doll and girl set.  Girl sizing ran small at K-mart, and the doll clothes for 'What-a-Doll' also fit the AG dolls.  A dress set I ordered was a bit short for the doll, but it worked, or it could be paired with leggings. For the price I would buy again!   I would say these are comparable, although the items I bought today did have a bit of extra detailing that I was excited to see.

The outfits DID NOT come with the shoes.  The polka-dot skirt came lined which makes it puff out.  The girl set had built in shorts.  I would say Ivy and Caroline are dressed for some fun DOLL PLAY!

  1. Thanks so much for the tip. My oldest daughter is always jealous that I can get these for my younger daughter...now I know I can go to Zulily get her something in her size!

  2. @ KC Coake- My oldest always feels the same! I was a little nervouse that the set wouldn't fit, and Zulily has no returns...but the quality was great and I am really happy I gave this one a try! You really cannot beat $24 for both girl AND doll outfits!
